Foreclosure roundup

Gloria finds Wells Fargo and Deutsche Bank in the Cleveland Housing Court “Bank/Lender Warrant Capias List” and the City’s Vacant Lot Maintenance Liens list, both attached to Housing Court Judge Ray Pianka’s Congressional testimony on the foreclosure crisis in May. She also links to Judge Pianka’s recent Meet The Bloggers interview.

(The Bank/Lender Warrant Capias List consists of banks and lenders that are holding foreclosed properties and have failed to respond to summonses to appear for code violation cases. This is so common that there’s now a special Housing Court docket for these cases, there have been arrest warrants issued for executives, and Pianka is scheduling trials in absentia. The Court is also blocking evictions in cases where the foreclosing institution has an outstanding warrant.)

The new Free Times has Charu Gupta’s promised article on “What To Do About Mortgage Brokers And Lenders Who Don’t Play Fair?”, and she gives her answer in the headline: “Sue the Bastards!” The article is mostly about innovative litigation against big subprime lenders by Housing Advocates and Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann.

County Treasurer Jim Rokakis squared off on WCPN yesterday against the chief economist for the national Mortgage Bankers Association. If you didn’t hear it, check out the podcast.
