Mr. Voinovich’s neighborhood (updated)
Senator Voinovich’s determination to protect mortgage bankers from meddling bankruptcy judges got me to wondering what’s going on in his own neighborhood.
Voinovich’s Cleveland home is on Rosecliff Road, a little lakefront street way up in the far northeast corner of Collinwood, near the intersection of Lakeshore and East 185th. Here’s a Google map of the home foreclosures filed in 2007 2007-2008 in Cleveland and Euclid within a few blocks of the Senator’s house (click for full size):
Maybe it’s time for the Senator to hold a neighborhood meeting.

Neat Job, Bill.
I sent it to one of his neighbors.
The streets around Voinovich’s are sought after spots, so near to the lake. At the end of his street, there’s a mini park where people have parties and cookouts, looking out at Lake Erie.
Yet, I don’t expect much from Voinovich who treads the political waters so adeptly by being mostly unnoticed or gets himself out there with what seems a proper decision that fits the area from which he hails, only to retreat when the heat subsides.

The senator is uniquely positioned to stick a hose into the lake to send water to Arizona, New Mexico, and Atlanta. He must think of it all the time, all that fresh water out there un-monetized. His new neighbors, the lenders and their new owners–the recently oil-enriched and the investment bankers–should actually encourage him in his generosity. Once they own a preponderance of the land, and they’re OK even though they’ve ruined the monetary system, they’ll proceed to dismantle everything else to maximize the quarterly profit.

[...] April 5, 2008 by fivehusbands Another must read from Callahan’s Cleveland Diary - take a good hard look at how many foreclosures were filed within blocks of George Voinivich’s Cleveland home. They say a picture paints a thousand words - this one paints a million. Look at the picture and then call George and ask him why he voted no on the bankruptcy reform measure. [...]

Voinovich doing something presumes that he cares…after all, they are on the other side of I-90.
