So, how’s that foreclosure moratorium going?
Last week Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo and Citigroup all proclaimed a “moratorium†on foreclosures against owner-occupied homes for a few weeks to give the President a chance to announce and implement his foreclosure program
In the last two days (Wednesday and Thursday) 125 new foreclosure cases have been filed in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.
- 16 were filed by Bank of America and its subsidiaries, Countrywide and Lasalle.
- 18 were filed by Wells Fargo or by Deutsche Bank as a trustee on Wells Fargo’s behalf.
- 13 were filed by Citigroup subsidiaries or by Deutsche Bank as a trustee on Citi’s behalf.
- 8 were filed by JP Morgan Chase or Chase Home Finance.
I haven’t had time to check all 55 of the names and addresses in these cases, but I easily found a dozen who are pretty clearly owner-occupants — including eight who are listed in the phone directory.
Seems like it’s about time for some reporter to call the banks and ask what’s up with this “moratorium”.
